CELEBRATING THE CLASS OF 2026

Written by Kerri L. Muzuruk, M.S. Ed., Executive Chief of Education

In late June, The Center for Discovery proudly celebrated 22 graduates during our morning and afternoon commencement ceremonies, honoring an important milestone in each student’s educational journey.

With families, friends, and staff gathered together, the day was filled with pride, laughter, tears, and reflection. Graduation is always one of the most meaningful days of the year at TCFD, and this year’s event was no exception.

Each of the graduates arrived at this moment by following their own unique path. Along the way, they faced challenges, worked through setbacks, celebrated victories, and continued to move forward, sometimes in big ways and sometimes one small step at a time. No matter what obstacles stood before them, they continued to grow, learn, and persevere.

One of the messages shared during the ceremony was that a person’s value is not defined by the challenges they face. Our graduates have shown us that every day. Their courage, determination, creativity, kindness, and sense of humor have shaped our community and inspired all of us who have had the privilege of knowing them.

A special congratulations go to this year’s recipients of the prestigious Triple C Award, recognizing Courage, Character, and Commitment: Mikail, Breindy, Connor, and JackThese students exemplify what it means to face challenges with determination, treat others with kindness and respect, and remain committed to their personal growth. We are incredibly proud of each of them.

This was also a celebration of the families who have walked alongside these graduates throughout their journey. Families who have been their biggest advocates, strongest supporters, and most constant source of encouragement. We are grateful for the trust they place in us and honored to have been part of their story.

We also recognize the extraordinary staff across our educational, clinical, residential, nursing, and support teams who have helped these students discover their strengths and reach this milestone. Graduation is never the result of one person’s efforts; it reflects a community of people who believe in possibility and work together to help students succeed.

As the Discovery Chorus sang Shine Your Way, the lyrics felt especially fitting for this graduating class: “There’s so much to learn, and now it’s your turn to shine your way.”

While graduation marks the end of one chapter, it is also the beginning of another. We know the graduates will continue to learn, grow, contribute, and surprise us with all they are capable of accomplishing.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We are proud of you, grateful for you, and so excited to see where your journey takes you next.

Now go shine your way!
