Transforming Lives through Research

The Center for Discovery has created a groundbreaking interdisciplinary research program focused on better understanding and treating complex conditions.

The Center has engaged in cutting-edge research for two decades, including the development of a world-renowned Lab School program with sophisticated behavior imaging technology, biometric sensors, and computer vision technology – allowing our staff and researchers to overlay data from each child’s bio-medical evaluation with data on how they respond to their environments and on how stress contributes to health outcomes and challenging behaviors. This research has identified individual triggers and offered insights into how individuals can learn adaptive behaviors to better manage stress and improve health and functioning.

The Center will soon expand its research efforts to launch a major Research Institute dedicated to brain and body health. The Research Institute will focus on studying how biological, behavioral, psychophysiology, social, and environmental variables interact to influence the health and functioning of individuals with complex conditions.

The Center partners with leading researchers and scientists from top universities and medical facilities across the country, and has its own federally-approved Institutional Review Board (IRB), which approves, monitors, and reviews all biomedical and behavioral research projects, in conjunction with university IRBs for various research projects.

The Center for Discovery is our family’s philanthropic priority. The organization’s comprehensive vision for complex care has been transformative for my brother and our family. What is more, through initiatives like its research partnerships and the Children’s Specialty Hospital, The Center has the potential to powerfully improve the lives of so many others. What happens here truly does matter everywhere.
