THE CENTER FOR DISCOVERY® IS DECLARED A “STORY TO WATCH”

The Center for Discovery® (TCFD) has been singled out as one of the local stories to watch for 2019 by the Times-Herald Record. The paper, which covers several counties northwest of New York, identifies TCFD’s plan to build a Children’s Specialty Hospital, including a Research Institute for Brain and Body Health, as part of a “commercial building boom” in the region. TCFD bought the former Frontier Insurance Building in Rock Hill late last year and aims to complete the renovation by 2020.

“We are thrilled that our ambitious plan to build a first-of-its-kind Children’s Specialty Hospital is being recognized by the wider community not only for the revolution in care we will deliver, but also for the investment we are making in the local economy,” says Patrick H. Dollard, President and CEO of TCFD. Over the last five years, TCFD has generated more than one billion dollars of economic impact for New York State.

The hospital will provide short-term comprehensive inpatient assessment programs for children with autism and other complex conditions with the primary goal of returning them home to their families.  The Research Institute for Brain and Body Health, which will be housed in the same building, will attract leading researchers and scientists from around the world to collaborate on pioneering studies of numerous conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Fragile X, Dementia and mental health issues.
