TCFD RECEIVES CRITICAL $2M GRANT FROM CABRINI FOUNDATION FOR NEW CHILDREN’S SPECIALTY HOSPITAL

The Center for Discovery was awarded a $2 million grant by the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation to support the construction of the new Children’s Specialty Hospital, including a medically fragile wing.  The grant is among the largest given to more than 450 organizations and programs statewide, totaling $160 million.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation is a private charitable not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the unmet health and wellbeing needs of all New Yorkers including the poor, disadvantaged, underserved and disabled.

The Children’s Specialty Hospital, under construction in Rock Hill, New York, will be the first-of-its-kind to diagnose and comprehensively treat children, teens, and young adults with complex conditions via a team of experts including doctors, clinicians, nutritionists, educators, and others.  The hospital will also be home to The Center’s world-renowned research team, and Alemany Learning Center for the education and advancement of parents, caregivers, doctors, and professionals worldwide.

“This grant will enable us to create a state-of-the-art facility for the most medically complex throughout New York State,” said TCFD CEO Patrick H. Dollard, “often these individuals do not get the extensive care they need because they have so many overlapping complicated conditions.”  “We will be able to use our 40 plus years of experience with the best team on the planet and really care for them.  We are so grateful to the Cabrini Foundation for seeing this need and recognizing the help it will provide statewide,” he added.

“As we look back at the compounding crises of the last few years, the health-related needs of vulnerable communities have only grown. Our grantees have demonstrated tremendous resilience, creativity, and dedication to serving those in need, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have such detrimental impact,” said Alfred F. Kelly, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Visa and Chair of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Board in the Foundation press release.
