This year The Center for Discovery will be returning to NYC to hold its annual fundraiser. We can't quite call it a ball, though: It will be more like an adventure - a journey!
This year's Discovery Evening will take you on "A Journey to the Center of Discovery". Come explore the history of The Center, learn about its unique and innovative programs for individuals with disabilities, enjoy four seasons of cuisine and find out what we envision for our future at The Center.
Our Honorees
This year we are honoring Michael and Nelly Arougheti. Nelly's younger brother resides at The Center. She and Michael have been a great support to The Center. Their gracious donations have helped our environmental health initiatives at The Michael Ritichie Big Barn Center for Environmental Health and Education. This landmark will focus on how healthy environments nurture healthy lives through bio dynamic and organic agriculture and use of sustainable "green" building practices and the use of renewable energies.
History of The Discovery Evening (formerly Discovery Ball)
The Discovery Ball is an essential annual fund raising event sponsored by The Center for Discovery Foundation in support of The Center for Discovery. It is the charitable highlight of the year, which began in 1997. It serves both as a major fundraising event and as a friend-raising, cultivation event. In previous years The Ball has been attended by over 700 Board members, parents, families, friends and other guests. Since its inception, The Ball has raised over $3,800,00.00.
Money raised goes towards funding the innovative programs The Center has developed for people with disabilities.
The Center for Discovery is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation. Donations are tax deductible to the extent the law allows.
